The Correctional Suicide Prevention Framework outlines a single overarching whole-of-system approach which complements existing department standards and procedural documents used to guide activities on a daily basis.

This framework serves as a key reference guide for all relevant documentation and creates transparency in the key theoretical underpinnings and principles to guide the strategic nature of suicide risk management and prevention.

The framework also outlines the interplay between environment, procedures, training and culture containing a detailed summary of key risk factors, precipitation events that may increase risk, and warning signs that a prisoner or offender may be having serious thoughts about taking their life.
