Corrections Victoria acknowledges the death of a 35-year-old prisoner at Fulham Correctional Centre on 4 December 2023.
The death of any person in custody is a tragedy and Corrections Victoria sends its condolences to the person’s family.
We recognise that all deaths in custody have an impact on family members, friends, those working within the corrections system, as well as victims of crime, and we’re working to ensure they are provided with the support they need.
Next of kin have been informed and the staff and people in custody at Fulham Correctional Centre are also being supported.
All deaths in custody are reported to the Coroners Court of Victoria, which formally determines the cause of death.
