The Metropolitan Remand Centre riot on 30 June 2015 involved approximately 400 prisoners and is the largest in Victoria's correctional history.

On 2 July 2015, the Victorian Government commissioned former Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Kieran Walshe to undertake an independent investigation into the Metropolitan Remand Centre riot that took place on 30 June and 1 July 2015.

The report was released on Monday, 21 December. It been prepared for public release, and as such, operational and security sensitive information that may compromise the security and good order of the prison system have not been included.
