"Future Dreaming … visions of the future" is an exhibition of artworks created by over 150 Indigenous artists across 14 Victorian correctional facilities during 2021.

Through the In Prison program participants were invited to imagine the future and represent their vision on a standard 30cm x 30cm canvas.

The artists embraced this challenge and have painted a vibrant display of works depicting a brighter future for themselves, their families, their Country, their communities, and even the world as a whole.

"Future Dreaming … visions of the future" will go live on Thursday 11th November 2021.

The Torch has been delivering the Statewide Indigenous Arts in Prison and Community program (SIAPC) since 2011. The SIAPC program is set within the context of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement and its focus is on the role of culture and cultural identity in the rehabilitative process of Indigenous prisoners.

The Torch employs Indigenous Arts Officers to deliver the program to Indigenous men and women in Victorian prisons and to support participants who are transitioning back into the community.

More information about the exhibition including how you can view it online is on The Torch website (External link).
