Corrections Victoria would like to acknowledge the death of a 73-year-old prisoner at Port Phillip Prison on Thursday 26 August 2021.

Deaths in custody have an impact on family members, friends and corrections staff, as well as victims of crime, and we’re working to ensure they are provided with the support they need.

The next of kin of the man were notified with our condolences.

All deaths in custody are reported to the Coroners Court of Victoria, which formally determines the cause of death.
