These annual awards recognise and celebrate partnerships between local communities and Corrections Victoria that contribute to the reparation, rehabilitation and reduction of reoffending by offenders and prisoners.
The awards were established in 1999 and are open to all Victorian prisons and Community Correctional Services offices.
More than 300 invitees from the 58 nominated partnerships attended the event, along with the Minister for Corrections, Edward O’Donohue who was a guest presenter for the Minister’s Award, and many of the 20 judges who participated in the awards process this year.
The theme this year was ‘Giving Back, Moving Forward’, reflecting the importance that Corrections Victoria places on both communities and offenders and prisoners.
By giving back to the community through the work undertaken in the community work projects, the offenders and prisoners are moving forward.
