The next exciting phase of Corrections Victoria's Community Correctional Services expansion has commenced, with the launch of a new careers site and the advertising of all new positions.
In recognition of the need to increase our capacity for managing some of our most complex offenders, many of the roles advertised are for case management staff. These roles require a specific set of skills, capabilities and educational background to enable us to effectively manage the offender population.
With our new operating model to commence early in 2017, these new roles will allow case managers or case officers to be matched to specific cohorts of offenders based on the identified profile of the offender and their risk of reoffending. New staff will therefore be recruited to roles that closely align with their skills and capability.
Our new approach will also streamline business processes and improve efficiencies in administration to maximise staff time to engage our highest risk offenders in the case management process.
Providing promotional opportunities for existing staff, attracting new people to our organisation, providing further professional development opportunities and introducing a new classification structure that emphasises community corrections as a profession will position Corrections Victoria as an employer of choice. Our strong focus on evidence-based case management practice will also ensure that we are appropriately focusing on reducing reoffending and the harm this causes in the community.
