Corrections Ageing Prisoner and Offender Policy Framework 2015-20

Corrections Victoria and Justice Health have jointly developed an Ageing Prisoner and Offender Policy Framework 2015-20, to guide the management of prisoners and offenders who are aged 50 years and over and who are experiencing age-related decline.

The framework includes four high-level principles that underpin a system-wide approach to the management, support and treatment of ageing prisoners and offenders and four key priority areas, flowing from the principles, which will shape the focus of Corrections Victoria and Justice Health initiatives and actions.

These key priority areas are:

  • ongoing system enhancement and service improvement
  • access to services and ageing-informed environments
  • strengthening workforce capacity
  • understanding the needs of ageing prisoners and offenders.
