Detailed annual prisoner and offender statistics
As part of Corrections Victoria’s data release strategy, various tables of data on prisoners and offenders are now available for public use, with many of these not having been released previously online. The data includes information on demographics, offences and regions, with all tables showing data between 2006-07 and 2016-17. Further details are outlined below:
Annual Prisoner Statistical Profile
The Corrections Victoria Annual Prisoner Statistical Profile presents various data on prisoners held in Victoria's prisons as at 30 June each financial year, between 2007 and 2017. The data includes a number of demographic and sentening characteristics of prisoners, such as sex, age, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status, prior imprisonment, most serious offence/charge, and effective sentence length.
The data set also includes the number and type of prison receptions and discharges each financial year between 2006-07 and 2016-17, including a disaggregation by sex, age, most serious offence/charge, and legal status at reception and discharge.
Annual Offender Statistical Profile
The Corrections Victoria Annual Offender Statistical Profile presents various data on offenders managed by Community Correctional Services (CCS) as at 30 June each financial year, between 2007 and 2017. The data includes a number of demographic characteristics of offenders, such as sex, age, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander status, prior imprisonment, and previous supervised orders. Regional summaries are also provided.
Infographics have also been prepared for both the prisoner and offender profiles, highlighting significant trends.
